AEGIS Supports Beacon Health Options – 3rd Annual Stamp Out Stigma Golf Event

Beacon Health Options (formerly ValueOptions), a long-time AEGIS client and health improvement company specializing in mental and emotional well-being and recovery, is holding its 3rd Annual Stamp Out Stigma Golf Outing for the Wounded Warrior Project. The event will be held on Tuesday, July 21st at the Bayville Golf Club in Virginia Beach, VA. AEGIS continues to be a proud sponsor of this event supporting our client in its community service projects. The proceeds from the event will go to the National Military Family Association (NMFA), which provides support and guidance for military members and their families. Funds from the outing will help NMFA strengthen its work beacon healthon behalf of military families, provide military spouse scholarships, and host Operation Purple ® camp and retreat programs. NMFA serves the families of the currently serving, retired, wounded or fallen members of  all seven of the uniformed services: the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Commissioned Corps of the USPHS and NOAA.

In addition to raising funds in support of the Wounded Warrior Project, the golf outing promotes Stamp Out Stigma, an initiative created to address the prevalence of mental illness and to help discourage stigma as a barrier to recovery. The event places a special emphasis on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and its impact on service members returning from combat and their loved ones. Launched in 2013 by Beacon Health Options, the Stamp Out Stigma initiative is now spearheaded by the Association for Behavioral Health and Wellness, in which Beacon Health Options is a member. The campaign challenges people to recognize the high prevalence of mental illness and substance use disorder in order to transform the dialogue about both, from a whisper behind closed doors to a conversation.
